Family Bank has opened a branch in Kilifi County, taking the number of its outlets across the country to 96 in an expansion plan targeting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Speaking during the opening, the bank's Chief Executive Officer, Nancy Njau, said the bank has over 1.2 million customers, 6,000 bank agents, and 75,000 merchants nationwide.

As of December 2024, the lender had total assets of Sh168.5 billion and a deposit base of Sh126.4 billion. Ms Njau said the expansion was in line with their 2025-2029 strategic plan.

"This expansion underscores our commitment to supporting Kenya's burgeoning business hub and enhancing access to banking services for micro, small, and medium enterprises," she said.

She noted that the opening of the branch signals a commitment to addressing the needs of the people and bridging the gap to financial exclusivity across the country

"It is all about establishing a deeper connection with the customers, whether a businessperson in need of a financial boost or an employee. We are here and ready to serve you," said Nancy.

The Branch Manager, Peter Tsuma, said the branch will offer a wide array of services, including digital banking options.

Vincent Mwakio, a businessman, said the new branch was long overdue, as customers were forced to travel to either Mtwapa or Malindi, where the bank had branches.

"The biggest challenge was the lack of a branch in Kilifi town. The nearest was in Mtwapa, about 40 kilometres from Kilifi centre. "This inconvenienced us a lot," said Mwakio.
